✅ Step 1: Choose Course & University

✅ Step 2: Prepare Your Documents –

Start gathering all essential documents early. These usually include:

• Passport (valid for at least 6–12 months)

• 10th, 12th Marksheet (for UG)

• Bachelor’s degree + Marksheet (for PG)

• Passport-size photo

• Medical check-up certificate (later stage)

• English proficiency proof (if required)

• Financial statement (may be asked)

• NEET scorecard (MBBS only)

• Police clearance (sometimes required)

• SOP / Study Plan (for PG programs)

• Recommendation Letters (PG/PhD only)

✅ Step 3: Submit Online Application –

Most Chinese universities follow online application portals.

The student must:

• Fill the application form

• Upload all documents

• Choose scholarship category (if eligible)

• Pay the application fee (₹3,000–₹10,000 depending on university)

✅ Step 4: Receive Offer Letter / Admission Notice

If the application is approved, the university issues:

• Admission Letter / Offer Letter

Candidates selected for MBBS, Engineering, MBA, and master’s degrees usually receive the offer letter within 2–4 weeks.

Some universities may schedule:

• Online interview

• Video verification

• Additional academic verification

(This has become common after COVID & revised 2024–2025 policies.)

✅ Step 5: Receive JW201/JW202 Visa Form (Mandatory for X1 Visa)

After you accept the offer, the university issues:

📌 JW201/JW202 Form

This is the official visa authorization document from the Chinese Ministry of Education.

• JW201 = Government-sponsored students

• JW202 = Self-funded students

You cannot apply for a long-term student visa (X1) without this form.

👉 Typical Issuance Time: 10–20 days after offer acceptance.

✅ Step 6: Apply for China Student Visa (X1 or X2)

Submit your visa application at:

✔ Chinese Visa Application Center (CVASC)
✔ Nearest Chinese Embassy/Consulate in India

You will need:

• Passport

• Photos

• Admission Letter

• JW201/JW202

• Visa Application Form

• Medical report (for long stay)

• Financial proof

• Travel insurance (recommended)

(Express service takes 2–3 days)

✅ Step 7: Pay Booking Amount & Secure Hostel / Accommodation

Most Chinese universities require students to:

• Pay the first-year tuition fee in advance OR

• Pay a seat confirmation deposit

• Submit hostel booking request

👉 Seats fill very early for MBBS, Engineering, MBA, and CS/Data Science.

✅ Step 8: Fly to China (Travel & Entry Formalities)

Once your visa is approved:

• Book flight to your university city

• Carry your admission documents

• Attend the university reporting session

You must enter China before the deadline mentioned in your Admission Notice.

✅ Step 9: Convert X1 Visa into a Temporary Residence Permit

Within 30 days of arriving in China:

• Visit the local Public Security Bureau (PSB)

• Submit your passport

• Provide university registration documents

• Undergo a standard health check (if not done earlier)

Your Residence Permit will be valid for 1 year and must be renewed annually.
